Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members:
As Thanksgiving approaches, I wanted you all to know how much I appreciate the hard work you do for our students, staff and our community. The Franklin Public Schools administration and faculty recognize the importance of our parents and community members; you are our partners in education. We want to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers who serve our students in a variety of ways.
As the holiday season approaches I wanted to share a thought that was passed on to me by a colleague. Her high school age son had a teacher who imparted these thoughts. The reflections are pertinent to the work we all do each day.
“There are billions of people in this world who will never have the opportunity we have here today. Poverty, war, and oppression have made education impossible for them to access. We must never take from granted this historically unique opportunity to improve not only your lives but the lives of others. Let’s develop our talent with this in mind working towards a day when all people will be allowed the dignity of education. ‘To whom much is given, much is expected’.
Thank you and all the best for a Happy Thanksgiving.
